June 26-28 Bargaining Highlights

UC PRESENTATION ON MEDICAL PLAN BID PROCESS: This week, UC presented CNA with additional information on the university’s medical bid process for 2008. In February 2007, UC requested bids from medical plan providers in order to explore new options for sustaining high quality medical benefits at competitive prices. UC’s priority for the medical bid is to explore ways to manage costs without benefit reductions. UC will continue to consult broadly with various UC stakeholders throughout this process, including Regents, faculty, staff, unions and retirees.

UC IN THE PROCESS OF COLLECTING DATA FOR WAGE PROPOSAL: UC had hoped to provide a comprehensive wage proposal for nurses this week. Unfortunately, it has taken longer than anticipated to gather the necessary information to finalize the proposal. The university understands the importance of wage negotiations and looks forward to providing a complete wage proposal as soon as possible.
