UC REACHES AGREEMENT WITH CNA ON A SIDE LETTER FOR 2008 OPEN ENROLLMENT AND HEALTH BENEFITS

UC received confirmation from CNA on Thursday, November 15, 2007, that it agrees with a side letter that outlines UC nurses' participation in Open Enrollment and rates for nurse health benefits in 2008.  While the parties continue to meet in mediation sessions for a successor contract, this side letter allows for the following:

• UC nurses represented by CNA will participate in Open Enrollment (Nov. 1 - 27, 2007) for 2008 health benefits;

• Represented nurses will pay the same for health benefits in 2008 as other UC employees.

The agreement also contains a provision that clarifies the formula for determining pay band placement, which determines how much an individual nurse will pay for health benefits.

UC will meet with CNA in mediation on November 19-20, 2007.
